William (Bill/Billy) Alan Broach was born in St. Louis, Missouri on the 20th of February 1947 and was welcomed by his loving parents Clifton and Mary Jane Broach, along with his sisters Barbara (Jones) and Crystal (Duxbury). Although his passing was sudden, as in life, Bill was surrounded by family as he passed away peacefully at home on the 26th of March 2024.
His early years were dedicated to gymnastics and excelling at anything that he put his mind to doing. It was during these formative years that he fell in love with the ocean and fishing, which eventually led him to the Florida Keys where he lived and worked the majority of his adult life. He owned and ran a dive shop for over a decade and then helped manage Bud n’ Mary’s Marina for his childhood friend Richard. Bill’s life closely mirrors an Irish proverb which states “there are good ships and wood ships, ships that sail the sea, but the best ships are friendships, may they always be!” He never met a stranger, only friends to be made and cherished.
Bill always wore a smile and lightened everyone’s life that he touched, whether it was a new joke that he wanted to share, advice, or words of encouragement, he was truly an inspirational person to be around. He loved life and lived it to the fullest whether it was golfing, scuba diving, or fishing he always wanted to do it with his friends and family.
Bill married his sweetheart Sandra (Johnson) on February 21, 1986. He was a kind and loving partner to his wife, as well as an amazing father to his sons Wayne and Rod. He was fiercely devoted to his family and prized the time that he was able to spend with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother, father and both sisters, and is survived by his wife, Sandra and sons Wayne and his wife Diana and Roderick and his wife Amy. Bill also leaves behind a brother, Dwight Broach, and six grandchildren: Brennan, Madison and her husband James, Elliana, Kellen, Wyatt, and Teagan. He also leaves behind extended family including nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews that he loved and adored.
There will be a public memorial service hosted at Bud n’ Mary’s Marina on 27 April 2024 at 7:00 pm on the promenade overlooking the marina.
