With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to Weldon Cummings, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who passed away peacefully at his home on March 30, 2025 at the age of 69. A man whose soul was forever tied to the beauty and spirit of the Florida Keys, Weldon made his home and created a business among the turquoise waters, swaying palms, and endless sunsets that he loved so dearly.

Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Weldon left the snowy Midwest to find his true paradise in the Keys. In 1976, Weldon started Key Lane Supply, which later became the well-known Keys staple of Keys Supply. He prided himself on knowing the plumbing and electric supply industry and the needs of the community he lived and loved to serve.

Whether he was out on the water, sharing stories with friends, or simply enjoying the salty breeze at his backyard bar, he embodied the laid-back and welcoming nature of the place he called home. His love for the water was only matched by the love and pride he had for his family, who will carry his lessons and legacy forward.

Weldon is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda, with whom he shared 42 years of cherished memories. He was a dedicated and devoted father to his daughter, Cassandra, and her husband, Ramon. One of his greatest joys in life was being a “Gramps” to William Weldon, whom he adored beyond measure. His stories, wisdom, and contagious laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

As the sun sets over the water, we take comfort in knowing that Weldon will forever be a part of the tides, the breeze, and the endless horizon he so dearly loved.

“I’d rather die while I’m living, then live while I’m dead.” -Jimmy Buffett
