Dr. Valerie Mechelle Bell
Valerie Mechelle Bell, 58, of Tavernier, Florida, joined her Savior on February 11, 2022. She was
surrounded by her loved ones in her home at the time of her passing.
Valerie Mechelle Bell was born on June 21,1963 in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. Valerie was raised as a
child in Industry, Pennsylvania where she graduated from Western Beaver High School in 1981.
Valerie was a member of The Girl Scouts and was a talented majorette baton twirler.
Valerie Obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree and a master’s degree in Nursing from the University of
Pittsburgh in 1986 as well as a master’s degree in Christian Counseling from Trinity International
University. Valerie went on to obtain her Doctorate (DNP) from the University of Miami.
Valerie’s nursing career began in the Island of Saint Thomas, where served for a short term and after
that, Valerie migrated to Florida where she had a stellar 32‐year career as a Nurse Anesthetist spending
time working at Homestead Hospital, Jackson Memorial Hospital and the University of Miami Hospital.
Valerie was also as a Professor at the University of Miami School of Nursing where she set the bar high
for her students and was known for being a no‐nonsense educator. Valerie mentored and prepared her
students to achieve and meet the real challenges of their careers. Many of Valerie’s students have
become today’s successful Nurse Anesthetists.
Valerie was compassionate and a devout Christian. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and soul.
Valerie studied and taught God’s word throughout her life. One of her favorites was her singles ministry
where she prayed with and ministered to singles in the Florida Keys for over 10 years. Valerie was also a
Prayer Counselor at Calvary Chapel (FL. Keys).
Valerie loved to travel around the world. It is estimated that Valerie has visited more than 20 countries.
Valerie has explored and appreciated a good portion of the world.
Valerie was an accomplished photographer and floral designer. She often gifted her projects to friends
and people who could use a little Sunshine or encouragement in their life.
Valerie was a humble philanthropist. When she gave, she gave generously. She donated to many
causes. She never hesitated when there was a need. She gave her time, her talents, her wisdom, her
home, her heart. She never missed a birthday, anniversary or special occasion. She celebrated people
and she celebrated life. Valerie also loved her fur‐babies. She rescued many dogs over the years and
gave them their best life.
Valerie married William Arthur Jones Jr. on December 21,2013 and spent eight plus happy years of
marriage. Valerie was an amazing wife and best friend to her husband. She was truly the better half.
Valerie is survived by her husband William A. Jones Jr,; her stepsons William Jones III and Carlos Jones;
her mother Laura Paige; her brothers Jason Bell, Delano Paige Jr., Paul Paige; her sisters Debbie Paige,
Susan Adams and Michelle Paige; her cousins Roye Henderson, Michelle Hayden and Angela Hayden and
a host of other family members.
Valerie is also survived by a host of awesome prayer warriors, friends and co‐workers who were by
Valerie’s side 24/7. On behalf of the Bell, Jones and Paige families, we are grateful.
Please all be comforted in knowing that Valerie did all she did to give God the Glory
