Steven Douglas Reynolds

Steven Douglas Reynolds, age 64, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 in Key Largo, Florida.
He was born on December 11, 1950, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Herbert Blair Reynolds and Patricia Ann (Schneider) Reynolds. On December 22, 1984, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Joanne Marie Holmes. Steve served in the United States Air Force in the early 1970’s until he was honorably discharged as a Reservist. He worked as an electric sign installer for the Don Bell Sign Company for over thirty years before retiring to pursue his lifetime passion of sailing his several vessels, including the “Anejo”. He held his Master Captain’s, 100 Ton License for over twenty years. He and his wife Joanne also served as managers of Gilbert’s Resort in Key Largo for friends Reinhard and Karina Schaupp, where he will be missed by his many Key Largo friends. Steve was a man of enormous character and heart that was loved by all that had the good fortune to know him.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Tara Sims of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren, Preston Alan and Parker Elizabeth; his mother, Patricia Ann Reynolds of Brownsburg, Indiana; two brothers, Stewart Randall Reynolds and Scott David Reynolds; two sisters, Sally Dee Thompson and Susie Rebecca Neiman; mother-in-law, Mae Holmes of Daytona, Florida; sisters-in-law, Lynda Hartley and Jacqueline O'Keefe; and lifelong friends Andy and Nancy Brown of Key Largo, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Marie Holmes and father Herbert Blair Reynolds.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 2pm at Creekside Restaurant and Tiki Bar in Key Largo (located across from Gilbert’s Resort).
