Sabina (Beanie) Rebel, aka Sabina Rebel Searle, of Tavernier, Florida, passed away at the age of 91 on September 10, 2021. Beanie was born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 12, 1930 to the late Walter and Bernice Zawrotny and was the fourth of six siblings. She was predeceased by her first husband, James Rebel, in 1986 and by her second husband, Robert Searle, in 2005. She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Fair (Thomas) and Linda Chrestman; grandchildren, Justin Kaylor and Allyson Fair Madrid; great-grandchildren, Peyton and Mia Kaylor and Zachary and Charles Madrid; and siblings Virginia Goven and Walter Zawrotny.
Beanie and Jim relocated from Pittsburgh to Miami with their two babies in 1956 and never looked back. She had a long career in Coral Gables as an office manager in the insurance industry. They bought a second home in Tavernier in 1972 and spent as much time there as possible; eventually Beanie made that her permanent home.
Beanie was a 4’10” firecracker of a woman with a wicked sense of humor and there was never any doubt about what she thought! She loved her family, crossword puzzles, politics (she could solve all the world’s problems - just ask her!), Florida Keys sunsets and the occasional nip of vodka with her friends at the Elks, where she was a loyal member since the 1970’s.
Following her cremation, a memorial service will be held on October 3, 2021 at 1 pm at the Elks Club in Tavernier.
