Rocco Ronald LaPace, passed away last Tuesday, November 8th, 2022. Born in Brooklyn NY on June 15th1941. He was a second-generation Italian American. He grew up in Miami where he met my mother, Cherrel. Once they were married, they moved to Lauderdale Lakes and ultimately retired in Tavernier in the Florida Keys. He was a family man and great father to his 4 sons. He had a big heart and an even bigger personality. He was also a man that spoke through his actions. All his life he gave back to others. He was a coach to many and as the Commander of the American Legion Post 333 he gave back to veterans of all ages. He traveled the world through his work at ATT/Lucent/Bell Labs and according to him, he saw some of the wildest things one could imagine. He brought his experience to life through his stories and boy could he tell a story. Those who had the chance to hear one sat in awe as we traveled the 91 countries with him. He will be missed by all that knew him.
He is predeceased by his wife Cherrel Hawes LaPace. He will be missed by his sons Jeff (Patricia), Todd (Jodie), Daniel (Darla) and Greg (Corinne) his grandchildren, Logan, Landis, Christian, Noah, Jadyn, Stella, Rocco, Joshua, Samuel and great grandchild Giuliana and his partner Jackie Jack. Rest in peace, Rocco! You are finally reunited with Cherrel.
