Robert (Bob) Gauthier Holeman, 61, of 330 3rd Road, Key Largo, Florida died on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010 at his residence.
Although born in Canada on October 19, 1948, Bob called Florida his home. He attended both Palmetto and Killian High Schools in Miami before enlisting in the US Marines. While serving in Viet Nam, Bob received a Purple Heart medal. Soon after Viet Nam, Bob spent time in Santa Monica. California. He soon returned to his home state where he began his journey as a contractor in Miami before moving to Key Largo in 1986. With strong initiative, he successfully launched Bob Holeman Construction Co. that became very well known for building prestigious custom homes seen on the cover of several Florida Architecture editions. His company also built the exquisite Ocean Reef Art League at the Ocean Reef Club.
Bob was an avid fisherman with a heart of gold. He enjoyed spending his free time fishing with his son and friends on the open waters of the Keys, Bahamas and Costa Rica.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother Georgette Gauthier Holeman; father James Spencer Holeman and brother Ronald Spencer Holeman.
He leaves behind his son, Howard Spencer Holeman, 21, of Key Largo; a brother, Thomas Victor Holeman, nephew Ronald Spencer Holeman, niece Kimberly Georgette Holeman from California; many friends and extended family members.
A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held at Beyer Funeral Home, 101640 Overseas Highway, Key Largo, Florida, 33037. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that material tributes be made in the form of contributions to the Disabled American Veterans at 305-743-4705; 7280 Overseas Highway, Marathon, Florida or The Florida Sea Base Boy Scouts of America Scholarship fund at P.O.
