Richard C. Oliphant, age 73, of Key Largo, FL, passed away unexpectedly on October 19, 2011. In his early years, he worked for a company that dredged major channels throughout the Keys, and was part of the crew that placed the Statue at John Pennecamp Park. He was currently employed with Keys Sanitation for over 20 years. As a welder he enjoyed making custom mailboxes and artwork out of steel. He was a major fixture in the Keys but most of all he was a wonderful husband and father!
Richard was predeceased by his parents Willard and Priscilla Oliphant, and a brother Terry Oliphant.
He is survived by his loving wife Robbie; daughters Saundra Peavler of Seabrook, TX, Teresa Daniel of Fairfield, TX, and Kim Osten of Daytona, FL; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; as well as brother Daryl Oliphant of Somerville, FL; sisters Janice Tucker of Brownsville, TX, Wanda Goldie of Naples, FL, and Pat Mills of Pipe Creek, TX.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at Allen-Beyer Funeral Home, 101640 Overseas Hwy, Key Largo, with funeral service to begin at 7:00 p.m.
