Biography
JOYCE, PETER G., born 6/19/1922 in Lackawanna, NY passed away 3/18/2011 in Tavernier, FL. He is survived by children Bonnie, Bob, Georgia, Jim and Joe; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grand children. He received an honorable discharge from USN and served in Pearl Harbor. He was a police officer in W. Seneca, NY. While in the FL Keys, was instrumental in starting the Marathon recreational football program; he was a volunteer fire chief for Islamorada Fire Dept; a member of the Fraternal Order of the Moose, a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was extremely active with the Upper Keys Athletic Association. He was a manager of the Cinemorada Theatre; an employee of Monroe County Public Works and was the supervisor of fleet maintenance with Monroe County Mosquito Control. He was a square dance caller and instructor while he enjoyed retirement in the Florida Keys. He will be laid to rest with loved ones in New York. A Celebration of His Life is planned for a later date.
