Biography
Paula Nehlsen Thomas
passed away peacefully on
April 29, 2011 with her husband
at her side. She was born on
August 10, 1938 on Long
Island, New York and
graduated from Bay Shore
High School in 1956, where she
met her husband John. They
were married in 1958 and
moved to Yorktown, Virginia
where they raised their
children. They also lived in
Portland, Oregon and
Mendenhall, Pennsylvania
before moving to Key Largo in
1983 to start a business. She
worked for Eckerd Drug Store
in Key Largo before retiring.
She is survived by her loving husband
of 53 years, John W.
Thomas, Jr. of Key Largo, a
brother, Peter (Jane) Nehlsen
of Pinehurst, N.C., 3 children;
John W. Thomas III of Ft.
Meyers, Florida, William
(Tammy) Thomas of
Hockessin, Delaware and
Susan Brookes of Pompano
Beach, Florida, 6
grandchildren; Christopher
Thomas, Summer Goodrum,
Ashley and Kristi Thomas,
Trevor and Jett Brookes, and 2
great-grandchildren; Jaden
and Jazlyn Goodrum. Her
ashes will be scattered at sea.
A celebration of life with family
and friends will be held at a later
date.
