Nancy Lee Sullivan, August 8, 1939-November 6, 2014.
Nancy Lee Sullivan died on the morning of November 6, 2014 in her home at Ocean Reef Club, Key Largo, Florida. Nancy was born on August 8, 1939 in Fairfield, Connecticut, the daughter of Nancy and Edward Henry. Nancy is survived by her siblings Janet and Richard Henry, husband Paul, children Scott and Wendy, and grandchildren Tommy and Michael O’Sullivan.
After graduating from Fairleigh Dickson University, where she met Paul, Nancy started a career and practiced as a dental hygienist until she had kids. Nancy and Paul moved to Tewksbury, New Jersey, where they still have a home today. Nancy was so much more than a stay-at-home mom. Nancy was a community organizer in Tewksbury before there was a name for it. She was on Tewksbury’s School Board, was a founding member of Tewksbury Recreation Organization, was Women’s Club President, was PTA officer, organized the Senior Citizen Club, and the list goes on and on.
Nancy will be dearly missed by her whole family. She was a great mom, wife, friend, confidant, adventurer, co-conspirator, volunteer, artist, sister, aunt, grandmother, and lover of life. Her favorite places in the world were at her family’s beach house in Fairfield, Connecticut and the Florida Keys. Many of Scott’s and Wendy’s friends considered Nancy a second mom and she loved them as her own. During the late 80’s and early 90’s, Nancy travelled extensively with her children to places like Ireland, Australia, the Caribbean and the Southwest. Known by her grandsons as NeeNee, she shared her love, humor, creativity and playful spirit with them whether they were near or far. Nancy’s favorite hobbies included anything creative – particularly painting and crafts. She also enjoyed music, especially Irish tunes, and she was ecstatic that Jimmy Buffet is coming to perform at Ocean Reef next year. She loved to be right in the thick of things with her family and friends.
With Nancy love of the water and being born into a golfing family, it was a natural fit for her and Paul to move to Ocean Reef during the winter months so she could enjoy all aspects of this vibrant community where she made many dear friends over nearly 30 years.
