Nancy Ball Morkill, 88, died peacefully in her sleep on May 11, 2017 at the Plantation Key Nursing Center in Tavernier, Florida. Classy and elegant, warm and friendly, loving and giving, she was a beautiful woman, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbor and friend, and she will be missed by all.
Nancy was born in Oxford, Ohio to Reuben and Lucile Ball on December 31, 1928. She grew up in Montclair, New Jersey and earned a degree and was an active Pi Beta Phi sister at the University of Colorado Boulder. She raised three daughters and a step-son, and later worked for the Episcopal Church for many years, serving as the parish secretary at the Chapel of the Venerable Bede at the University of Miami for 5 years before becoming the Executive Secretary to the Bishop of the Diocese of Southeast Florida for 11 years. After retiring in 1991, she and her husband Frank traveled extensively in their RV visiting friends and family and exploring all four corners of the United States and Canada.
Nancy was pre-deceased by her parents, Reuben and Lucile; and her loving husband of 55 years, Frank. Nancy is survived by her brother Sandy Ball of Scottsdale, Arizona; daughters Lisa (Jim) Radford of Orlando, Florida, Carol (Mike) McGunagle of Homestead, Florida, and Anne Morkill of Pacifica, California; step-son Bill Morkill of Vancouver, British Columbia; and two grandchildren Joe McGunagle of Largo, Florida, and Christy McGunagle of Homestead, Florida.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Plantation Key Nursing Center and the Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of the Florida Keys for their support in her final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of the Florida Keys, 92001 Overseas Highway, Tavernier, FL 3307.
