Biography

Sharon Michele "Mickey" Vlach, 64 years young, of Tavernier, Florida joined the angels in heaven on Friday, February 21, 2014. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.
Mickey was born in Bethesda, Maryland to Wilbur and Alice Vlach. She was the oldest of four children. She attended St. Louis Catholic School in Clarksville, Maryland; Glenelg High School in Glenelg, Maryland and an executive secretarial school in Baltimore, Maryland.
Mickey was the executive administrative assistant to the operations section of the Florida Keys Electric Co-op from 1991 - 2014 where she treated customers, co-workers and superiors with a smile and family- like manner. She previously worked at John Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland from 1970 - 1991 as an executive administrative assistant.
Mickey loved her family; cats; feeding and watching birds, squirrels, chickens and iguanas in her backyard; reading; crossword puzzles; cooking; clipping coupons; Dollar Tree shopping; hunting for bargains; creating sand scenes; watching manatees swim in her canal; reporting crocodiles to FWC and talking to her many friends. She smiled easily, had a good sense of humor and went out of her way to help people.
She is survived by the love of her life, Jimmy Lewis of Tavernier, Florida; brother Michael Vlach of Westminster, Maryland; sister Molly Vlach (partner Denise) of Tavernier, Florida; niece Stella Landon and nephew Alec Landon of San Bernadino, California; cousin Marianne Condon (husband Hearl) of Key Largo, Florida; her two cats Annie and Carson and many friends.
She is predeceased by her father Wilbur Vlach of Dayton, Maryland; mother Alice Skinker Vlach of Tavernier, Florida and sister Lisa Vlach Mitchell of San Bernadino, California.
Celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 29, from 4-6 p.m. at Category 3 Bar and Grill in Key Largo, FL.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation can be made in her honor.
