Michael Joseph Raifsnider, age 63 years, died suddenly on Sunday, August 28, 2011 in Key Largo, Florida. He was a graduate of Milton Hershey High School, Harrisburg Polytechnic Institute, and was a Viet Nam Veteran serving with the Air Force. Michael was a Licensed Sea Captain and spent most of his life on the water, especially enjoying teaching children nautical skills.
Michael was the son of the late Sherman and Veronica (Chando) Raifsnider. Michael is survived by long time companion Valerie Geiger, Key Largo, Fl. as well as siblings Elaine Hughes, widow of Kenneth, formerly of Pottstown, PA., James, husband of Linda (Prizer), and their children, Holly Raifsnider of Philadelphia, Pa and David Raifsnider of Pughtown, PA, and Deborah, wife of David Mondik, Douglassville, Pa.
A private funeral service will be held on the sea off the coast of Key Largo, Florida. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Allen-Beyer Funeral Home, Key Largo, Florida. Michael's family would also like to extended their gratitude to Catagnus Funeral Home, Pottstown, PA
The family requests that all who knew Michael take a moment and remember him for his gentle and loving spirit.
