MARY MARGARET CRAWLEY
Mary Margaret Crawley, age 58, of Marathon, FL, died on Saturday, July 6, 2013, after a remarkable five-year battle with cancer. Mary was a 1972 graduate of Hampton High School in Virginia and a 1976 Asian Studies graduate from the University of Virginia. Fluent in Mandarin, she spent much of her professional life in Taiwan where she founded the Taipei Art Guild, and later worked for an import/export firm on mainland China. She is an artist in her own right, and settled in Marathon in 1997 to pursue a second career with her own ceramics business. She is pre-deceased by her parents Colonel John L. Crawley, Jr. (U.S. Army/Ret) and Katharine Ely Champlain Crawley of Hampton, Virginia. She is survived by her loving partner, Douglas DiStasio of Marathon, Florida; her brother, John L. Crawley III and his wife, Tracey, of Newport News, Virginia; a nephew, John, of Hampton, Virginia; and a niece, Danielle, of Knoxville, Tennessee. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Mary's life later this summer.
