Ingersoll, Marjorie "Mardie" died at her home on December 12, 2009. She had been the moving force behind the Upper Keys Humane Society for the past. Her husband, Robert and step son Peter both predeceased her in death in 1982.
Over the past two years she had a series of strokes that limited her involvement in the Society. Her life revolved around the daily trips to the Humane Society. Even though she couldn't be there every day, when she was well enough, she would get a ride to the office and sit to unfolded papers for the kennels. Without her dedication and determination, the Humane Society, would probably have closed years ago. Mardie was the backbone of the Society and will be missed by many who know her
