On Saturday, May 28, Lori Michelle Denues lost her battle against stage four-pancreatic cancer. Lori was surrounded by her daughter Leila Cicic, her best girlfriends, family including her sister Kelly Denues, and her mother and father Susan and Pat Riegner. Lori had been a resident in the Keys for over 15 years, after returning from Europe where she modeled for ten years. During her time here in the Keys, she established Stay in the Florida Keys, a high-end vacation rental company that is still in business today. Lori was a committed friend to many, but her job as a dedicated mother to her daughter, Leila, was her number one priority and source of extreme pride.
During the last year, Lori fought her illness with the same tenacity and feistiness that she exhibited in her personality and in her life. Despite the gravity of the situation, Lori learned to appreciate the small things in life, exploring new areas of interests, meeting new people, traveling, cooking, and even some gardening. Her strength and courage were inspiring and all those lucky enough to be included in her life reaped the benefits of her strength, courage and zest for living. She was an amazing woman.
There will be a Celebration of Lori's Life Saturday, June 4 at Pierre's from 6:00-9:00 PM. Please join us in celebrating the remarkable person Lori was in life. Donations in Lori's name can be made to Sylvester Cancer Center of Miami, which took great care and made a great difference to Lori during this last year.
