Lila Herbert Ziegler, age 82, of Key Largo, FL, passed away August 18, 2015. She was born in Washington, D.C., on November 16, 1932 to James and Irene Herbert. She moved to Miami, FL and graduated from Miami Jackson High School. She received many awards for over 30 years of outstanding federal service with the Department of the Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and U.S. Customs service, until she retired in Miami, FL in 1985 as the Fines and Penalties Officer. She was also an officer and member of the Key Largo Moose Lodge; lifetime member of the VFW; and a member of the American Legion and Tavernier Elks Lodge.
She was preceded in death by her husband William “Bill/Ziggy” Ziegler in 2006.
She is survived by her sister Renee Crenshaw; son William Livesay (his wife Victoria); grandson Lennon, granddaughter Layla, great-grandson Noah; and stepdaughters Patricia and Joann.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2015 from 4:30-7:00 p.m. at the Key Largo Civic Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VNA Hospice of the Florida Keys, 92001 Overseas Hwy, Tavernier, FL, 33070.
