On Thursday, August 11th, 2022, Leroy “Barney” Edward Truex, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away at the age of 70 surrounded by family.
Barney was born, raised and lived his entire life in Mayetta, NJ. Together with his beloved wife Dolores they shared the joy of raising their children Barney, Tammy, Amanda and Troy.
Though starting from humble beginnings, Barney’s hard work and professional savvy led him to founding Sea Watch International LLC; the United States’ largest producer & supplier of both Sea (Surf) clams & Ocean (Quahog) clams. Sea Watch boasts a fleet of ships harbored in ports throughout the North Atlantic Seaboard and has proudly accepted many honors. At his passing, Barney served Sea Watch as Senior Owner.
A staple of the community, Barney was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind & charitable spirit. In addition to being a dedicated outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, Barney’s true passion was race car driving; racing at Wall stadium, Pocono, Martinsville, and New Egypt.
Barney is survived by his wife Dolores; son Barney; daughter Tammy; daughter Amanda; and son Troy. He’ is also survived by his sister Robin, brother Martin, brother Curtis, sister Kyle, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren as well as many nephews and nieces.
Memorial services will be held 1pm September 9th , 2022 at the Manahawkin Methodist church located at 116 Stafford Ave, Manahawkin, NJ 08050.
