Jeffrey Scott Harris, tragically was found dead at 41 years of age where he lived in Tavernier/Key Largo FL on Saturday, March 31, 2012. He died from a pulmonary embolism he suffered due to injuries sustained to his right lower leg which was crushed after being ran over by a negligent driver who was texting while driving. The accident occured late October, 2011 in front of the Marriot on Overseas Hwy. in Key Largo FL.
Jeff was born on May 21, 1970, in Atlanta, GA to a loving family. He grew up in Lilburn, GA and graduated from Brookwood High School in 1989. He was a gifted salesman and entrepreneur who was self employed. He also worked in the mortgage business in Georgia. He had a passion for dogs and actively volunteered in helping animal protection organizations.
Jeff was known for his humor and fearlessness, as well for his carefree personality. He had a special charm, a quick wit, and was fun to be around. Loved by many yet known by all, Jeff could not be ignored. He will be missed by many old friends who remember him fondly from the past in GA, as well as many new friends he met in the Florida Keys over the past few years. Jeff was loved and will be missed and remembered by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ron and Judi Harris; grandmothers, (Granny Eddie) Edna Mitchum and Ruth Stephens; Aunt, Sue Mitchell and Ann Couch.He is survived by his brother, Greg Harris; his grandfather, (Papa) Wade Mitchum; uncle, John Mitchell; and cousin Mike Couch.
He is also survived by his loving girlfriend, Andrea Parker Ayres and their dogs River and Parker.Also, close friends Sandy Workman, Mark Gilmore and little Picaso; Augusta Rechlitz and Jonathan Jula and their dog Boo.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3 pm, Thursday, May 17, at the Allen-Beyer Funeral Home (305) 451-1444 at 101640 Overseas Hwy. Key Largo, FL 33037.
