James M. Hightower, age 67, a resident of Islamorada, FL, for over 13 years, passed away suddenly on March 19, 2013. He was born in Dade City, FL, on September 16, 1945 to James and Leila Hightower, he graduated from Edison Senior High, and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict, where he was stationed in Germany. He has been a Mechanical Contractor and Pipefitter for the past 35 years, serving on the board for the Mechanical Contractors Association and a member of the Local Pipefitters Union #725. He was also a member of the Miami Springs Powerboat Club.
James was preceded in death by his first wife, Susan Lee Hightower, and his two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Hightower of Islamorada, FL; daughter, Laura Moreland (husband David) of Islamorada, FL; son, Chris Hightower (wife Kathy) of Coral Springs, FL; stepdaughter, Shannon Gunther of Pembroke Pines, FL; stepson, Craig Migdalski of Pembroke Pines, FL; grandchildren: Josie and Cole Moreland, Christopher and Gillian Hightower, and Eddie Gunther; sister, Mary Hightower of Dade City, FL, and many other family members.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a soon to be established memorial/scholarship account, to help further his grandchildrens' education.
