Harold "Stanley" Hamblen left us to go to walk with Jesus on Wednesday, June 23, 2010. He was born in Orange, NJ on May 22, 1927. He attended Admiral Farragut Military School. He later joined the Merchant Marines after the war. His ship made many crossing to bring US soldiers home and to return German prisoners of war to Gemany. He graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park, FL where he met his wife of 60 years.
He was the 10th generation in seafood business in this country. His forefathers were whalers in Cape Cod in the early 1600's and the old Hamblen graveyard is still there.
He was active in church work as a deacon and sang in the choir for 25 years. He was an avid admirer and grower of orchids and roses. He has been a resident of Plantation Key since 1998.
He was predeceased by his father Harold Hamblen, mother Irene Hamblen and his brother Wesley Hamblen. He is survived by his wife, Fay of Plantation Key, his son Benjamin of Broken Arrow, OK, his son Harold and family of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and his daughter Donna of Norman, OK.
