Gregg Dietz, age 64, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, while vacationing with family in Key West, Florida. Gregg spent his final day on the ocean being amazed by all the beautiful creations that the Almighty God has made. He was met and in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in a twinkling of the eye.
Gregg was born on October 1, 1957, in Dallas, Texas to loving parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Dietz. The fourth of five children, Gregg graduated from Bryan Adams High School in 1975. He furthered his education in Music at North Texas State. Music was one of his passions in life performing in numerous rock bands; “Swan Song” (Zeppelin cover), “Turning Point”, “Cover Band” and his first band- “The Screaming Meemies”.
Becoming a father & grandfather ‘Pappy’, also known as ‘Happy’, was one of his proudest accomplishments. He loved to play video games, teach them how to ride their bikes, watch sports and cartoons together, catch the latest action flick, teach the kids music & his favorite—to laugh. He was at the hospital for every grandchild birth and enjoyed attending all their sporting events. His children give much credit to his guidance on becoming a strong man, faithful husband, and loving father. He was the best Santa Clause, wearing a suit specially sewn by his mother.
Gregg married his cherished wife, Lesa 13 years ago & they were devoted members of Life Community Church together. He loved to worship & his talents were shared on the bass guitar during church service every Sunday. Gregg enjoyed spending time with his family and extended family, eating good Tex Mex, watching movies, Dallas Cowboys football, and watching the TV show “How Things Are Made”. Gregg was a dedicated employee of the United States Postal Service for over 27 years.
Outside of friends & family, Gregg’s upmost joy came through his Holy Habits— his first order of business each day being to read his Bible and pray. It was of highest priority each day to share the Kingdom of God to his fellow man. Gregg was “A Friend of Bill’s” for 27 years helping countless men on their road to recovery & leading a Christian life.
Gregg is survived by his wife, Lesa Dietz; his children Dustin (Kelly) Dietz and Austin (Jenna) Dietz; Lesa’s children Audrey Bersterman, Andrew (Erica) Danna Sr., and Leah (Derek) Hernandez; Happy Pappy to 9 grandchildren: Preston Dietz, Lucille Bersterman, Andrew Danna Jr., Alexia Heid, David Bersterman, Emma Heid, Jack Danna, Landon Dietz and Madelynn Dietz; sister Rebecca Dietz, sister-in-law Beth Dietz and brother-in-law Rex Reynolds.
