Gerald “Jerry” Nordell Hoilien, 55, passed away unexpectedly in Key Largo, FL. on September 30, 2015. Jerry was born April 27, 1960 in Fort Madison, Iowa to Joyce and Jerry Hoilien. Jerry was a free spirit with a fun-loving adventurous personality. He could be found on the Mississippi clamming, diving and fishing. He also loved gardening, hunting and the great outdoors. Jerry graduated from Atlantic High School in 1979. He traveled extensively in his career and personal life. He resided in Iowa until falling in love with the Florida Keys and relocating to Key Largo in 2010. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his three daughters: Jada Jordon (Jake) Miller of Southaven, MS, Josie Hoilien of Key Largo, FL, and Katie Hoilien of McGregor, IA; one granddaughter Ember Rayn of Southaven, MS. Sisters Catherine (Larry Friedberg) Hoilien of Denver, CO, Mary (Randy) Henningsen of Marne, IA; Julia (Jeff Mason) Hoilien of Eldorado Springs, CO. Life partner Wendy Lopez Dyer of Key Largo, FL, former spouse Jenny Hoilien and stepdaughter Lauren of McGregor, IA; and several nieces and nephews. Saturday, October 10th there will be a private service in Boscobel, Wisconsin. A potluck Celebration of Life will be at The Depot in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Saturday, October 17th there will be a Celebration of Life at The Pilot House in Key Largo, Florida at 8:30 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Ducks Unlimited or a charity of your choice.
