Eddie Mills Murphy
Eddie Mills Murphy died on September 14, 2011 in Tavernier Florida; he was 84. Born April 22, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan, he spent much of his life in the Detroit area, and his entire career working with Detroit Edison. Mr. Murphy retired as a substation operator for Detroit Edison in 1982. He spent his retirement between Dexter, Michigan and Tavernier in the Florida Keys. He was an active sportsman and loved the out of doors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, boater, and diver. Eddie served his nation during World War II in the US Army Signal Corps, and was an Army photographer at the Nuremberg War Trials.
Eddie was a pragmatic man with a wonderful sense of humor who saw the best in all people.
Mr. Murphy is survived by his sister, Ann Barkholz of Wayne, Michigan, son Patrick of Weideman, Michigan, daughters, Debbie Bronson of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan and Colleen Picchi of Blowing Rock, North Carolina, and grandson Robert Bronson of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. He is also survived by his long-time companion Linda Jean Getty of Tavernier, Florida. He is predeceased by his brother, Jim, sister, Francis, grandson Bryan, and great grandson Seth.
