Dottie Langdon

A Treasure in Our Community
Dottie Mae Langdon, age 89, of Key Largo, FL, passed away after a long illness on November 2, 2010 at Homestead Manor. Dottie was owner of Dottie's Loving Care for the Elderly in Key Largo that provided senior adult care with all the comforts of home. Dottie came to the Keys in 1982, when she stared her service to the elderly. She monitored all the needs of the people placed in her home. That included preparing meals, shopping, doctor appointments, social outings and providing companionship to people in her home as well as to elderly neighbors who needed extra assistance.
Whenever someone needed a place to stay or a meal, Dottie was the one to call. Her life was helping others. A senior citizen herself, the last folks living with her were in varying degrees of Alzheimer's. As they passed, Dottie herself needed intensive care and reluctantly had to close her home for the elderly and moved to Plantation Key Convalescent Center, where her fabulous attitude and outlook on life made her a much wanted partner in Bingo and dining companion. Everyone at PKCC loved her. When she had to move, her health rapidly deteriorated.
Dr. Joanne F. Mahoney, M.D. took care of Dottie during her entire time in the Keys and was not only a wonderful Doctor to her but also a dear friend to Dottie. We thank her very much for all that she did for Dottie over the years.
All are invited to a Celebration of Life for Dottie, which will be held Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Beyer Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Instead of flowers contributions can be made in her name to Burton Memorial Food Pantry.
