Marathon, FL - Donald Richard Blouin, of Rye Beach, New Hampshire and Marathon, Florida passed away on February 6, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 77.
Don was born January 21, 1945 in Waltham, Massachusetts and lived in Rye Beach where he raised his family.
He enjoyed a long career at Charles P. Blouin, Inc. He was a proud steward of his family contracting business where his talents and passion were able to flourish. He served an Apprenticeship as a young man, eventually becoming President and most recently a Director. Don was instrumental in labor negotiations with Local #17 Sheet Metal Workers and helped change a combative labor/management landscape to one of partnership and collaboration.
Don was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed bird hunting with his dogs and was a lifelong and enthusiastic fisherman. Don was a tournament winning tuna fisherman in New England and spent years on the reefs, flats and bays of the Florida Keys. He loved to be on the ocean with his children, grandchildren and friends. He was a master mechanic who built many boats and he spent countless hours in his barn creating. He was a music lover, storyteller, cook and generous host whose doors were always open. Don lived a full life surrounded by many loved ones who enjoyed his dry wit, honesty and wisdom.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Nora, their three sons, DJ of Rye, NH, and Tom and Daniel, both of Darien, CT, his daughters-in-law, Gwen, Jessica and Kirsten and six grandchildren, Caroline, Philip, Thomas, Alice, John, and Alexander Blouin.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 PM on Friday April 22nd in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Rd., Hampton, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday April 23rd at the St. Theresa Parish, 815 Central Rd., Rye Beach, NH. Interment will be in the Central Cemetery, Rye, NH.
