Charles Mccarthy Jr.

May 15, 1962 — July 2, 2021

Charles F. McCarthy, Jr. (Chuck), 59 of Islamorada, Florida, passed away July 2, 2021.  He was born May 15, 1962 in Melrose Massachusetts, to Sara L. McCarthy and the late Charles F. McCarthy.

After graduating from Shawsheen high school, he gained an Associate’s degree at Wentworth Institute of Engineering.  Armed with these skills, he could fix almost anything (the Camaro with the acceleration string through the window, the motorcycle with orange wire and the boat without the center console, just to name a few).  Chuck followed his parents to Long Key Outdoor Resorts and then moved to Islamorada for 26 years.  While in the Florida Keys he became certified in the Evinrude and Yamaha motors, earned his Marine Merchant Captain Credentials, and worked at Dusky and Caribee Marina’s, and then started his own business “Chucks Outboard Service” that he loved.

He was a simple, kind, fun loving man with a big heart, and loved his family and friends. He enjoyed playing darts, going on motorcycle trips, fishing and boating, late night phone calls and helped many with their boating needs as an expert marine mechanic.  Chuck lived life as he wanted and everyone knew, he did it his way!

He is survived by his loving mother Sara McCarthy of Hobe Sound, Florida; brother Daniel McCarthy and Catherine White of Billerica, Massachusetts, sister Kathleen and David Starkey of Burlington, Massachusetts, nieces Daryn, Jocelyn and Caitlin and nephews Joseph, Jordan and Eric.

The family wants his friends in Massachusetts, Islamorada, the Florida Keys and from everywhere to know we appreciate your love, kindness and support through these hard times for everyone! You are missed already Chuck!

In honor of Chuck’s kindness, the family is not asking for donations to any charity, but to pay it forward to someone who needs a helping hand!!
