Charles "Chip" DeClue, 60, succumbed to throat cancer on Sunday morning, Sept. 26, 2010, while his wife Marcia was at church. "He was a gentle man who never got angry; he was quiet and never asked for anything for himself but was there for everybody else" according to his pastor Rev Bonnie Frost. He served in the US Navy from 1968 to 1972. A photo and art specialist, DeClue was born in Missouri but came to Ocala with his family when he was about two years old. He met Marcia in Ocala and they moved to Tavernier in 1998 where they were active in the community while owning and operating DeClues Art Printing and Framing in Islamorada. DeClue was a Mason, a past member of the Islamorada Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and was active in the Rotary Club of Key Largo for five years. He was a member of the BPOE # 1872 and the Exalted Ruler. Elk member Richard Barreto said "DeClue had done an incredible job increasing the Elks Club's profile in the community. Under his leadership last year we had the largest increase in membership of any Elks Lodge in the nation." He was a fun-loving guy and he and Marcia sang karaoke. Besides Marcia, DeClue leaves a daughter Stephanie (Brian) Cesarec of Oxford, FL, and a son, Stanley DeClue of Homosassa, FL, as well as six grandchildren. He also leaves three brothers Terry Joseph of Tampa, Toby of Ocala and Jeffrey Lee of North Carolina.
